Jason Duenas, LPC-S

Individual supervision for Texas LPC Associates.

I provide one-on-one online supervision for Associates working toward independent licensure. The focus is practical: case consultation, clinical decision-making, ethics and documentation, and meeting Texas requirements while you build experience in your own setting.

Experience and training

My clinical background.

I’ve worked across several levels of care and now focus primarily on couples and relationship work in private practice.

How I supervise

We’ll work through the reasoning behind clinical decisions.

My approach is collaborative and direct.

I trained with Harlene Anderson in her course for clinical supervisors. Anderson co-founded the Houston Galveston Institute and is one of the developers of collaborative-dialogic practice. Her approach to supervision treats the meeting as a working conversation between supervisor and supervisee, not simply a place where the supervisor delivers an expert verdict.

In practice, I’ll ask you to explain how you understand the client, what you think is happening, why you chose an intervention, and what happened after you used it. I’ll bring my own clinical experience, question assumptions, and give direct feedback as we decide what is clinically and ethically sound.

Some questions have a direct answer about board rules, ethics, documentation, or safety, and I’ll give it. Other situations have more than one reasonable path. We’ll compare those options and the reasoning behind them so you can make sound clinical decisions when I’m not available.

What supervision covers

What we can use the time for.

The focus will depend on your setting, caseload, stage of licensure, and the questions that are coming up in your work.

Areas of experience

The work I have the most experience with.

I can supervise a range of clinical work. These are the areas where my background is strongest.

Couples and conflict

Couples therapy is the center of my practice. My work includes relationship assessment, conflict patterns, communication, friendship, intimacy, and Gottman Method interventions.

Affairs and betrayal

I work with affair recovery, disclosure questions, atonement, responsibility, safety, pacing, and the process of rebuilding trust.

Trauma, anxiety, and parts work

My individual work is trauma-informed and includes anxiety and IFS-informed parts work. I use these ideas without reducing the client to a clinical model.

Faith, identity, and culture

My background includes religious trauma, faith integration, clergy and ministry contexts, cultural factors, and LGBTQ+ affirming care.

Fee and format

Fee, format, and requirements.

The meeting fee includes the supervision hour, required documentation, reasonable preparation when it is needed, and one brief question between appointments. A question that needs a fuller case discussion belongs in a scheduled meeting.

Associate arranges setting and caseload

The total for four 60-minute meetings in a month is $600.

Meetings are billed as they occur; there is no advance package. I offer individual online supervision and do not currently provide group supervision, employment, or a caseload.

Before entering a formal agreement, we’ll review your setting, expected caseload, supervision needs, schedule, and whether my experience fits the clinical work you expect to do.

Texas currently requires LPC Associates to receive at least four hours of supervision each month. Board rules can change, so Associates remain responsible for understanding current requirements. Review the Texas BHEC supervision FAQs
