Online couples therapy

Feel like a team again.

Most couples I meet aren’t looking for perfection. They want the tension to ease, conversations to stop going sideways, and some sense that they’re on the same side again.

I help couples slow the pattern down, understand what keeps happening between them, and find a different way through it.

When couples reach out

Sometimes the crisis is obvious. Sometimes it has been building quietly.

An affair, a blowup, or a serious conversation about separating can make the need for help clear. Other couples come because the distance has slowly started to feel normal.

You may not agree about when the problem started, who has tried harder, or even how serious it has become. You don’t have to settle all of that before you begin.

What matters at the start is whether both of you are willing to look honestly at what is happening and at the part each of you brings to it.

How couples therapy begins

We start by understanding the relationship before deciding what needs to change.

The first several appointments are an assessment. I meet with you together and individually, review the Gottman Relationship Checkup, and then talk with both of you about what I see and where I think the work should begin.

A little about me

Hi, I’m Jason. I’m calm in the room, but I’m not passive.

I’ve worked in a psychiatric hospital and in residential, nonprofit, and private-practice settings. Over the years, I’ve gotten better at staying steady when a conversation gets intense, saying what I think is getting in the way, and keeping therapy connected to life outside the session.

Outside the office, I’m married and raising three young children. I read when I can, play around on guitar, drums, and keyboard, and dance salsa and bachata. I met my wife on a dance floor in the Dominican Republic, so that last one is more than a hobby.

If this sounds familiar

If some of this sounds a little too familiar, you can start with the intake.

The first appointment is for telling me what has been happening. We don’t need the whole future of the relationship decided before you schedule it.
